Fix Your Microphone & Sound Issues
If your mic or speakers aren’t working on Zoom, Teams, or Windows — here’s how to fix it quickly.

Book a Remote Support Session1. Check Physical Connections
- Is your microphone plugged in?
- Is the cable loose?
- Is your headset muted?
2. Choose the Correct Input Device
Go to:
Settings → System → Sound → Input
Choose the correct mic (USB mic, headset mic, laptop mic).
3. Test Your Microphone
Click Test your microphone.
If it doesn’t move → it’s not detecting audio.
4. Check App Permissions
Windows may be blocking the app.
Go to:
Settings → Privacy → Microphone
Allow the app you’re using (Zoom, Teams, Chrome).
5. Update Audio Drivers
Press Windows + X → Device Manager → Audio Inputs → Update Driver
Updates fix most audio glitches.
6. Restart Audio Services
- Press Windows + R
- Type services.msc
- Restart:
- Windows Audio
- Windows Audio Endpoint Builder
7. Fix Sound Output
Make sure the right speakers/headset is selected.
Settings → System → Sound → Output
